Some really think that the band gained popularity when Vivida Vis was released for the first time although Tom Gabel, the lead vocals and guitarist, begs to differ. Tom Gabel started the band ‘Against Me!’ at a young age of 17 as a solo act in Naples, Florida. He released a self made tape which failed to grab heat although the songs were later circulated with the aid of various file sharing programs.
Tom Gabel thinks that the internet and several file-sharing programs basically helped the band ‘Against Me!’ to become renowned and recognized. It was only after the band was officially signed by Plan-It-X Records and Sabot Productions that the band gained worldwide recognition.
The band’s first full length album was Reinventing Axl Rose which was released in 2002. Ever since that various albums like Against Me! As the Eternal Cowboy, Searching for a Former Clarity, New Wave and White Crosses were released.
‘I was a Teenage Anarchist’ of White Crosses still happens to be one of the most played songs.
