The unique pirate theme made by Alestorm basically identifies and characterises the music of the band, the same reason why the band has been dubbed as “Pirate Metal” band and they are famous for their unique style of heavy metal. Alestorm call their genre as “True Scottish Pirate Metal”.
Alestorm is a metal band which hails from Perth, Scotland which was formed under the name of Battleheart in the year 2004. Napalm Records signed them in 2007 after they released two EPs. They later renamed themselves as Alestorm.
The band originally consisted of guitarist Gavin Harper and lead vocalist Christopher Bowes. The group completed itself with the addition of bassist Dani Evans and drummer Doug Swierczek. Various departures caused the band to change lineups and look for other members to fill in the vacant positions. Gavin Harper left the band in 2008 causing Tim Shaw to be hired. He left too causing Dani Evans to switch to guitar from bass.
Alestorm have released three major studio albums hitherto which are still very popular.
