The punk rock band was formed in the year 1979 in Los Angeles. The current band members are vocalist Greg Graffin, guitarist Brett Gurewitz, bassist Jay Bentley, guitarists Greg Hetson and Brian Baker and drummer Brooks Wackerman.
Brett Gurewitz also happens to be the founder of Epitaph Records label which went on to release almost all the albums of the band. Epitaph Records label has become one of the most successful independent record labels in the market which boasts of promoting hundreds of artists over the years.
Bad Religion has often been credited with reviving punk rock. The band has also inspired other bands and groups to incorporate punk rock in their music. The band is also known for including socially sophisticated and intellectual lyrics in their songs which gained them an amazing fan base all across the globe.
Bad Religion is one of the most successful independent selling punk rock bands hitherto which celebrates a record of over 5 million albums sold worldwide.
