Now Green Day is a contentious issue..... All those old punks out there have been grumpily dismissing Green Day as no more than a pop band with no right to carry the punk banner; whilst millions champion them as true heroes. Well; despite being one of those old punks myself; they are wrong. Green Day have EVERY right to proclaim themselves as this generation's lead punks. Don't get me wrong; I love Stiff Little Fingers; and Billie Joe will also be the first to acknowledge their influence; but the fact is; Green Day write better songs. So respect to Billie Joe.
