The English rock musician’s real name is William Michael Albert Broad. The name Idol is inspired from Broad’s description by a schoolteacher as ‘idle’.
Billy Idol earned a reputation and achieved fame by performing under the band named Generation X in his early years. The rock musician then followed a successful solo career with the help of various chic music videos which helped him to earn amazing worldwide fan base. He was the first to become an MTV star.
The solo career of Idol was shaped with the aid of his debut EP titled ‘Don’t Stop’ which was released in 1981. Success followed after the release of ‘Billy Idol’ in 1982.
