The popular American heavy metal band was formed in Los Angeles, California in the year 1983. Megadeth was originally formed by guitarist and vocalist Dave Mustaine, bassist Dave Ellefson and guitarist Greg Handevidt after Dave Mustaine’s expulsion from the popular American heavy metal band Metallica. The band has, to date, released 13 studio albums, three live albums, two EPs, 26 singles, four compilations, 32 music videos and a box set. The band is considered to be a pioneer of American thrash metal movement. Megadeth shot to fame in the 80s and shared space as one of the ‘Big Four of Thrash’ with Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax. The band saw several changes in their line up over the years and disbanded in 2002 owing to Mustaine’s nerve injury in his arm. The band was reformed in 2004 after Mustaine recovered from his injury. The band has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. Megadeth has also been nominated ten times for Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
