The American alternative rock band was formed in the year 1983 in Los Angeles, California. The band is known for incorporating elements from other genres like punk rock, hip hop and psychedelic rock in their music by giving emphasis on funk rock. They are considered as one of the best bands in the history of rock. The band comprises of founding members vocalist Anthony Kiedis and bassist Michael Balzary along with guitarist Josh Klinghoffer and drummer Chad Smith. The band came up with their eponymous debut album in the year 1984. The year 1990 saw the signing of Warner Bros. Records under which the album ‘Blood Sugar Sex Magik’ was released in 1991 which became the band’s first commercial success. Several tours followed for promotion. The band’s next studio album ‘One Hot Minute’ was released in the year 1995. The band then came up with ‘Californication’ in the year 1999 which became the band’s biggest hit to date. The band has also won 7 Grammy Awards.
