The English punk rock band was formed in the year 1976. The band originated in London, England. Different other music genres apart from punk rock were also incorporated in their music like reggae, ska, dub, funk, rap, dance and rockabilly.

Their recording career generally comprised of lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Joe Strummer, lead guitarist/vocalist Mick Jones, bass guitarist/vocalist Paul Simonon and drummer/percussionist Nicky Topper Headon. Headon left the band in 1982 which was soon followed by Jones departure owing to the brewing tension in the band. Finally The Clash disbanded in the year 1986.

The band achieved huge success with their eponymous debut album which was released in the year 1977. The album was very successful commercially in UK. ‘London Calling’, which was the band’s third album, gained them worldwide recognition. Rolling Stones Magazine declared the critically acclaimed album as the best album of 1980s after a decade. The band also became famous for their politicized lyrics and rebellious attitude.
