Volbeat is a Danish light metal band which hails from Copenhagen. The year 2001 saw the formation of the band Volbeat. Vocalist and guitarist Michael Poulsen founded the band along with few friends and members of his previous band ‘Dominus’. The name of the band has been inspired from the third album of Dominus which was named ‘Vol.Beat’. The band generally encompasses a fusion of rock and roll, heavy metal, rockabilly and punk in their music. Volbeat was signed to ‘Rebel Monster Records’, a sub-label of Mascot Records after the band sold 1,000 copies of their demo tape titled ‘Beat the Meat’. The debut album of the band entitled ‘The Strength/The Sound/The Songs’ was released in the year 2005. The album became a hit and gained exceptional commercial success peaking at #18 on the charts of Denmark. The latest album of the band titled ‘Beyond Hell/Above Heaven’ was released in the year 2010.
